Cute, Fun and Unique Wedding Shoes

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Even though your gown usually hides your wedding shoes, it’s still fun to get creative and add some pizzazz to your wedding attire. We found some great ideas to use on your big day.

Wedding shoes

These super cute shoes are part of Hey Lady’s 2009 Spring/Summer shoe line. If you are looking for something blue or something new then these shoes might be perfect. Check out some similar styles on sale at BravoBride.

Wedding flats

If you are not a fan of heels and/or maybe you’re a bit taller than your groom, try a pair of comfy flats so you don’t have to kick your shoes off by the time you get to the reception. And you can wear them again after your wedding. Here are a pair of white wedding flats for just $15.

Payless Wedding shoes

These shoes, along with many other styles, are available at Payless Shoe Source. Payless has partnered with Lela Rose to design beautiful and affordable shoes for your wedding. What’s even better is they offer 64 different colors your shoes can be dyed to.

wedding flip flops
Wedding flip flops are a new and fun way of getting creative and being comfortable at your wedding. Whether you are having a summer, beach wedding or a formal, evening wedding you can’t go wrong with flips flops. What’s even better about flip flops is you can make them personal by buying an inexpensive pair and then getting beading and ribbon at a local craft store. Make a day of it with your bridesmaids and decorate them together. Best of all, we have a ton of them on sale at BravoBride.

Man marries video game character?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

A fan of the Nintendo DS dating sim Love Plus liked his virtual lady so much that he decided to marry her. I wish we were kidding about this but I just saw the story on Yahoo a few days ago.

A Japanese gamer known as ‘Sal9000′ was officially wed to Nene Anegasaki, one of the game’s three virtual girlfriends. The two aren’t planning a honeymoon yet but they did hold a reception in Japan for friends, family and the media, indicating that this is probably a video game publicity stunt.

There are some pro’s to this situation, at least the bride didn’t have to buy a gown or fret over wedding plans but I can’t imagine the wedding night was very exciting for the groom.

Check out this video recap by Boing Boing, complete with footage couple:

Unique place card ideas

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

We just found these fun and unique place card ideas on MarthaStewartWeddings.com. Not only are they super creative but they’d also be easy to do yourself.

unique-placecard-holders
These place cards would be perfect for a summer wedding. All you need is a shallow serving tray filled with sand, drink umbrellas that can be found at any store and decorative paper from a craft store. Fold the paper to look like a beach towel, super glue the umbrella to the towel and you have your summer-themed seating cards.

leaves
These name cards are ideal for a Fall themed wedding. Just like the summer-theme get a shallow serving tray, fill the tray with real or fake moss and find some twigs from your own back yard. The pieces for this display could all be found at your home. Find a leaf stencil and craft paper at your local craft store and attach the leaves to the twigs with ribbon.

favors
Two-in-one seating cards and wedding favors. If your wedding favors come in a box or can be placed into a box then decorate the outside with ribbon or wrapping paper that goes with your wedding colors and place the name card on top.

cards
If you’re having a wedding in Vegas, then these place cards will be perfect. You can either buy playing cards from your local store or order specially created cards online. Add  your guests name on the front of each card and use the card numbers on that back to assign them to a table.

The couple had originally planned to get married at the unlikely venue but realized it would not be legally recognized so they decided to fulfill their dream by having a blessing in their local cemetery eight months after their ‘legal wedding’ which took place in a traditional registry office.

The marriage blessing took place at Wisbech General Cemetery on Saturday November 14th and was performed by a Spiritualist minister in front of 40 family and friends at the four-acre site’s ancient stone chapel.

I don’t have the words on how lucky I am to have the beautiful couples that stroll into my life. Each has a unique story, or happen stance that allows me to be able to shoot their wedding. Whether is be luck, fate or chance… this wedding was beautiful.

I met our bride standing outside a Sprinkles Cupcake shop in Newport Beach. I had just finished a consultation and was getting ready to go for a short run on along the coast with my best friend/assistant, Chandra. But  alas, we decided, or was it fate, to get a Sprinkles Cupcake instead. The bride and I chatted the entire time, not as strangers but as best buddies getting treats together. We talked about details, flowers, shoes, decorations, save the dates, and all sorts. Then, Chandra revealed that I was a wedding photographer. She showed her fiance my images on the website and they were hooked.

Her shoes were part of her something old.. but I think it was more like something divine.

Every guest stayed until the last song, “I had the Time of my Life” and danced the night away. It was an absolutely stunning event.

Princess Diana’s Wedding Champagne to be Auctioned

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

British designers Elizabeth & David Emanuel created Diana's famous gown

This is going to be some expensive champagne! A bottle of 1961 vintage Dom Perignon champagne that was used at Britain’s Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding will be auctioned off soon.

The 1961 vintage Dom Perignon had been selected for the wedding because it was the year Diana was born.

James Grinter of auction house Reeman Dansie said, “It is very rare to find a Royal Wedding bottle of 1961 Dom Perignon because it was a strictly limited release and even rarer to find it still sealed in its original box.”

Evidently only 99 bottles of the vintage – regarded as one of the finest ever produced – were shipped across from the France’s Champagne region for the wedding.

All the bottles are believed to have been consumed at the Buckingham Palace reception, but a similar boxed and sealed bottle was sold in 2004.

As much as I love champagne, this would be one bottle I could never open.
