Simple & Easy Wedding Decorations

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Martha Stewart Weddings has given us some great ideas on how to decorate your wedding and reception. Many of the ideas provided are simple and easy decorations you could do yourself. Read on and be inspired!

Large hurricane vases containing floating candles are placed on either side of a path strewn with rose petals. If you are picking from your own garden, pluck them early in the morning when roses are freshest. For a more inexpensive approach, use fake flower petals or just have the large vases as a pathway to the wedding and/or reception.

This monogrammed banner is a cute and sweet way of leading your guests to the church and/or reception. It is also a great way of greeting your guests to the event.

wedding-toparies
Use topiary’s to display a banner for your big day; this is a great way to introduce your guests to your wedding and/or reception.

Easy Accessory Idea for your Bridesmaids

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Martha Stewart provided another cute idea for your bridesmaids to wear on your big day. Fabric flower rings. This could be a fun activity to do at a bridal shower or hand them out at the rehearsal dinner.

Start by cutting fabric flowers, such as the ones shown here, from their stems. Wrap ribbon around your finger to determine the approximate length you’ll need; cut ribbon to size, adding about 1/4 inch for overlap. Use a hot-glue gun to join ends together, forming a loop, and to add flowers to ribbon bands. Ta-da! You’ll have an easy and affordable gift for your bridesmaids! Or if you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, check out this new BravoBride Boutique that specializes in ribbon flowers – they are beautiful!

The 5 most romantic places to get engaged

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Our friends over at TheManRegistry just sent us some great tips on where to get engaged. Ladies, please forward this on to anyone you know who’s getting ready to take the plunge!

This ring is listed at half off!

This ring is listed at over half off!

You’ve got the engagement ring picked out. You know when you’re going to pop the question. Now all that’s left is to decide where and how you’re going to do it. Here’s our suggestions for romantic places to get down on one knee and pray she says yes. (Ignore the cliché’s and just go with it)

5.) Location of your first date – How about a blast from the past?  Tell her you’re going to a “surprise destination” for a date night. She’ll be pleasantly surprised to arrive where you took her on that first date. She’ll be pleasantly shocked when you pull out the ring!

4.) Cruise – We’re not talking about the 3-day weekend booze cruise to Mexico. Couples cruises are great for spending some 1 on 1 time and make the perfect opportunity for a proposal. We heard one story of a groom reserving en entire deck aboard the cruise ship for the engagement and then had the cruise director make an announcement at that night’s dinner. We expect nothing less from the groom-to-be’s reading this blog!

3.) Anywhere where it’s raining – Try to make it look like an accident.

2.) Hot-air balloon ride – You’re probably laughing because this is so cliché. But don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.  Word to the wise: These guys book up fast for some reason. So, if you’ve got a date in mind – book it fast.

1.) Where you first met – Of course we’ve all seen this cheesily done in commercials or movies, but you can’t argue that it’s quite romantic. Whether it’s the mall, a bar or 8th grade science class – find a way to work it in. It’ll make for a great engagement story that will last a lifetime.

Our favorite preowned dress of the week!

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

This week our favorite preowned wedding dress is a Kitty Chen Couture Brier Rose gown. It features embroidered translucent lace over a chiffon all tied together with a sweet bouquet of fabric flowers. The bride describes it as Jane Austen meets the 21st century. Crazy for cupcakes

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

In case you haven’t noticed cupcakes are becoming all the rage and are sometimes replacing the traditional cake when it comes to celebrating special occasions. From the bridal shower to the bachelorette party to the reception, wedding cupcakes are making it more fun and easier to please your guests.

Why do we love cupcakes other than the fact they are small but so delicious?

  • With cupcakes you can get more creative with the decorations and colors.
  • You can go crazy with the different amount of flavors.
  • Last but not least, portion control. For some reason it just feels like cupcakes have less calories than a piece of cake. Although I am sure this is not true, it just makes them seem more guilt free. Which must make them somewhat healthy, right? ;)

Check out how some brides used cupcakes at their wedding and bachelorette parties below.

So what song did Ivanka choose?

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Ivanka Trump weddingWe mentioned a few weeks ago Ivanka Trump was asking her Twitter followers to suggest songs for her and her soon-to-be husband Jared Kushner to dance to as husband and wife. Ivanka Trump had said that she and Jared did not have a song yet for their reception. If you suggested a song to Ivanka’s twitter account then your song could have quite possibly been the one she chose.

So what song did they choose? They ended up dancing as  husband and wife for the first time to David Gray’s “This Year’s Love.” We think it’s a nice choice!

Now that the wedding is over, maybe she’ll list her Vera Wang wedding gown on BravoBride after the honeymoon. :)
