Friday, December 11th, 2009Celebrity Designer Bridesmaid Dresses For Your Ladies
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009Monique Lhuillier, who is the dress designer behind such celebrity weddings of Alicia Silverstone, Kate Walsh, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Britney Spears, Jewel, Giuliana Rancic, Shanna Moakler and Pink, has launched her own bridesmaid line for the public.
The dresses are cocktail style and come in hues of green, yellow, navy, silver, pink and coral. The dresses are so chic that they can be worn again and again, and no one would know it was a bridesmaids dress.
Most of the dresses are in the $300 price range and are available online at www.moniquelhuillier.com. The long yellow one is my favorite!

Cute, Fun and Unique Wedding Shoes
Monday, November 30th, 2009Even though your gown usually hides your wedding shoes, it’s still fun to get creative and add some pizzazz to your wedding attire. We found some great ideas to use on your big day.
These super cute shoes are part of Hey Lady’s 2009 Spring/Summer shoe line. If you are looking for something blue or something new then these shoes might be perfect. Check out some similar styles on sale at BravoBride.
If you are not a fan of heels and/or maybe you’re a bit taller than your groom, try a pair of comfy flats so you don’t have to kick your shoes off by the time you get to the reception. And you can wear them again after your wedding. Here are a pair of white wedding flats for just $15.
These shoes, along with many other styles, are available at Payless Shoe Source. Payless has partnered with Lela Rose to design beautiful and affordable shoes for your wedding. What’s even better is they offer 64 different colors your shoes can be dyed to.

Wedding flip flops are a new and fun way of getting creative and being comfortable at your wedding. Whether you are having a summer, beach wedding or a formal, evening wedding you can’t go wrong with flips flops. What’s even better about flip flops is you can make them personal by buying an inexpensive pair and then getting beading and ribbon at a local craft store. Make a day of it with your bridesmaids and decorate them together. Best of all, we have a ton of them on sale at BravoBride.

Used Wedding Dress of The Week!
Saturday, August 15th, 2009Every Saturday we will be publishing our favorite preowned wedding dress that was listed this week on BravoBride. This week’s preowned wedding gown is an Ines Do Santo. We love how the bride describes the gown as a mixutre of old Hollywood glamour with today’s modernity. The gown is 100% silk, beaded and trimmed by hand and is nearly $2,000 off the purchase price. Ugly Bridesmaid Dresses
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009If you’ve been a bridesmaid several times, there was probably at least one gown you had to wear that you didn’t like. Okay, well maybe all of them. Even though the bride tells you ‘you’ll be able to wear it again after the wedding’, you know you probably won’t. In the spirit of bad bridesmaid gowns I have found some that you should never, ever make your bridesmaids wear.

The ruffle tail really pulls this whole look together

Nothing says a winter wedding like dressing your bridesmaids as Mrs. Claus

Just add a lamb to this dress and you're set!

If you want to draw attention to your hips, wear this dress!

Ruffles and sequins are an unbeatable combination

Why wear jewelry with a neckline like this!

Who says only the bride gets to wear a veil?

Something Blue
Thursday, June 25th, 2009When I was getting married last year, I wondered where the custom of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” came from? After doing a little research I found out that it derives from this old saying:
Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe
This tradition is meant to bring the bride good luck. If you’re still looking for that ’something blue’ I found some items on the site that might inspire you. Click on the image to view the full listing.
Unconventional Bridesmaid Dresses
Monday, June 1st, 2009It’s time we changed the stereotype about bridesmaid dresses. If you really want your bridesmaids to actually wear the dresses you chose again, you need to think outside the box. As a bride, your goal should be to choose dresses for your girls that are universally flattering and somewhat easy on the wallet.
Often, traditional bridal shops sell dresses that are more expensive than most department stores. While traditional venues may be able to offer a wider range of sizes and color choices, department stores such as Macy’s and Nordstrom’s have more original designs and can have better prices. Depending on the body types of your girls, you might want to check out the junior departments for basic styles and lower prices.
Tips on thinking outside of the box:
- Choose a color and allow each bridesmaid to select their own dress within the shade.
- Turn your bridesmaids into a floral backdrop by setting guidelines for their dresses to be floral patterned and the silhouette of your choice.
- Have each bridesmaid wear a plain black cocktail dress. It’s an easy way to have them look classy and guarantee they will wear a dress they love.
- Keep an eye on seasonal sales at the mall. For example, if your wedding is in the fall or winter of next year, look for sales on fall/winter dresses at the end of this season. This works best at stores such as Express, The Limited, or GAP.
- Select a brand, color and fabric and allow each maid to choose the style of dress that best fits their body type.
- Target.com, JCPenny.com, Nordstrom.com, and Macys.com all have sections on their web sites specifically for special occasion dresses.
- Look into renting dresses. Groomsmen rent their tuxes, don’t they?
- Check out our bridesmaid section and purchase a discounted bridesmaid dress, we even have some there were never worn!
Now that you’ve helped your wonderful bridesmaids save money and look fabulous at your wedding, hopefully they will return the favor when it’s their big day.
5 Tips to Choose the Right Dress
Thursday, May 28th, 2009One of the things I enjoyed most during planning our wedding was gown shopping. I love shopping so that part came easy but trying to pick the perfect gown- that was hard. I honestly never had a ‘this is the one’ moment. I ended up choosing the gown that I kept going back to but in the end I absolutely loved it. If you’re having a similar problem then these few tips may help make your decision easier.
1. Type of wedding.
Formal, informal, time of the day, time of year, and place where it will take place. If your wedding is in the winter you may not want a strapless gown but if you do choose one, consider using a cute bolero to cover your arms and shoulders. If you have a night time formal wedding, an elegant ball gown style would be more suited for this. A simple lace or tea length gown would be perfect for a more casual destination or garden wedding.
2. Your budget.
If your budget is really tight, center your search on used inexpensive wedding dresses. There are thousands of possibilities and many of them are designer gowns. A little adjustment here and there, and everybody will think the gown was made just for you.
3. Time available for choosing.
If the wedding is near, find an already-made dress. Having it tailored by a designer will take much longer, and you must assume the risk that the dress won’t be ready on time. Buy it off-the rack and use the remaining time for the right alterations to make it fit perfectly.
4. Material and details:
Embroidered fabric, beaded details and lace are used for enhancing certain parts of your body. Plain fabric is used to conceal your tiny flaws. Make sure your dress enhances your best features. Here’s more detailed information about how to choose a dress for your body type.
5. Personal characteristics:
Style, body type, height, weight, complexion, age, personality, and taste, everything counts. Always ask for expert advice. Mom’s don’t count here (they will find you gorgeous even in a plastic bag). Stressing your best characteristics and feeling comfortable are the best sensors you have in making the right choice.
Once you limit the scope of your search, things will be much easier. Asking for advice at bridal shops will help you determine the type of dress that best suits your figure. Base your choice on their advice and always ask for an honest opinion. Remember, the perfect dress for your wedding will be the sum of good advice (stressing your best features), a practical decision (comfort), and your total mindset for your bridal attire (if you don’t love it, it will show).
