Wedding Trends That Are Here to Stay in 2013

Posted in Wedding Ideas, Wedding trends

We just celebrated “out with the old and in with the new!” But it’s hard to say goodbye to those 2012 trends that we love, so we won’t. We believe these 8 trends will last well into 2013 and beyond. Happy New Year everyone!

1. The Food Truck
What a creative and inexpensive way to share unique and fun food with those you love. Whether the food truck provides the main course or just crashes the “after hours” party for late night apps it is sure to be a hit with all your guests!

2. Ruffled and Ombre Wedding Cakes
With this duo at your wedding cake table you really can’t go wrong. Gorgeous layers of ruffles and ombre make them almost too beautiful to eat!

3. Bold Patterns and Colors
This year’s pattern definitely went to Chevron and we suspect it will continue in 2013 along with many other bold patterns (stripes and polka dots are coming in strong) along with bold color. Speaking of bold color, yellow and pink is a trend I believe we will see a lot come spring time.

4. Rustic Weddings
Romantic and really quite easy to plan, is why we believe these will stick around. Find the location and be inspired by what surrounds you. Barns, hay bales, wood tables, crates it all makes for the perfect rustic wedding. Rustic weddings always seem to bring out so much creativity with all things natural and re-purposed.

5. Vintage Glam
Love the mix of “old” with “new” for that Hollywood vibe of the past. It’s over the top with vintage glam because anything goes really – mix, gold, silver, mercury and bling together at the ceremony or reception. Then add a vintage style dress, mink and birdcage veil to complete the look!

6. Heels with Bling
Nope these beautiful babies do not have to go away in 2013. In fact, we think we may have viewed just as many pictures of fabulous “bling” wedding heels as brides this past year. Clear a space on your photo wall or photo album they will definitely make it into your wedding day memories!

7. Dolled up sweets and cake tables
Yes, we all love the wedding cake, but some of us love the cupcake, cookie or pie too! We are happy to see the buffet style of sweets at weddings now. These will continue on trend and have just made dessert that much more anticipated!

8. Bunting
On cake, at the reception, with words or no words, back drop or just a detail… bunting works! They add fun and pizazz to your celebration!

This list really could go on photo booths, picture props, creative aisle runners, funky bridesmaid frocks, brooch bouquets, snack machines…I think that is why weddings are so fabulous! They keep evolving just like everything else in life. It’s fun to express yourself and style your wedding. All our best to you in 2013 creating your unique, beautiful, fancy or simple “wherever the trend blows you” big day!

If you want a unique wedding bouquet that will last forever then you’re going to love The Ritzy Rose. Jen, the owner of the shop, has worked hard to earn not only a celebrity clientele, but a bevy of brides across the globe. After creating a custom jewelry bouquet for Miranda Lambert’s wedding to Blake Shelton in 2011, she received national coverage in magazines and the news. Miranda’s bouquet graced the pages and covers of US Weekly, People Country Edition, and was featured on E! News and Access Hollywood, and countless international blogs. Take a peak at her work below and you’ll understand why!

Contemporary, romantic and stylish, this bouquet has it all! The various shades of lavender, vintage pieces and brooches used in this piece work perfectly together.

A sweet little bouquet of sunshine with a preciously placed butterfly.

The possibilities on how to make these bouquets special are endless – initials, vintage jewelry and even family heirlooms.

Cars, elephants, butterflies, tassels – this bouquet shows how whimsical personal touches can be included to create a gorgeous bouquet for your big day.

Wedding planned for early July? The bouquet in this photo was created in the spirit of Independence Day and featured in Jacksonville Wedding Magazine. It is available for purchase at The Ritzy Rose.

Don’t forget the bridesmaids! No, there bouquets are not made of brooches, but take a sneak peek at the custom necklaces they are wearing, courtesy of The Ritzy Rose. Coordinated with the bouquet, they make for a fabulous photo!

So besides the “Fabulous!” factor, these lovelies bring to your special day, these bouquets hold memories of past and present. You can enjoy it today; tomorrow even pass it on down to your own children. The only downside I can really see to these Ritzy Rose gems is that you have to buy a second bouquet to toss!

The Art of Calligraphy

Posted in Wedding Ideas, Wedding trends

I adore anything handwritten – chalkboards, notes, signs, menus, place holders etc. In my household, a handwritten envelope received always gets opened first. Love notes left on the counter score big points. And toddler written notes are cherished. You know someone took the time to write it just for you and it’s personal. But let’s take it to another level. Calligraphy. On a note or an envelope, it instantly sets the mood of romance, love… emotion. Its dramatic – someone has artistically created every stroke. Calligraphy is a mood changer and here are a variety of styles and ideas you can use for your big day!

thank you wedding cardscalligraphy table numbers
How fabulous are these table numbers and thank you tags? The script even has a cool name, Harlow Elise! These are created by NicHance Designs and definitely have an urban edge for the modern wedding.

Today’s calligraphy styles can also be whimsical and modern. I love how these invites from A Charming Occasion combine different font styles together.

Don’t you just love the beautiful script against the chocolate envelope? Oh, and this “save the date,” would take prime real estate on my cork board never to see the fate of the recycle bin! The envelope and card are by Inkblot Calligraphy.

wine cork placecard holders
Love, love, love this funky calligraphy! How fun. I can see the wine place card holders being grabbed by wedding guests. The Pampered Paper makes a statement to your special day with these special pieces.

balck and white wedding invitations
I love the white script against the black envelope, making for a traditional look. The place cards are given extra pizazz with a handwritten calligraphy note by Ash Tree Creations.

Can you imagine a party where you hand these lovelies out instead of a white sticker and a sharpie? They have fabulous gold detail and are reusable! These final ideas by K is For Calligraphy are such great examples of bold beautiful script. I had to include the gift tags they are perfect for many occasions but with the holidays near; they are the answer that I needed to finish off my gift giving!

Fabulous Flower Girl Frocks

Posted in Wedding Attire, Wedding Ideas

We all know the flower girl is almost as eagerly anticipated as the bride coming down the aisle. Her dress has also been carefully selected and she probably spent as much time as the bride getting her hair coiffed picture-perfect for her long walk. There is no doubt, she will wonder if she is walking too fast, too slow, smiling enough, carefully rationing her flowers to make it to the end. Now that is some pressure for a little one. So when her job is done and she kicks off her shoes, she will be ready to dance the night away! Here are a few dresses that are cute but comfy enough to wear until the party ends.

Gabi and Jack’s Rustic Chic Wedding

Posted in Featured Bride, The Gabi Chronicles

I am so thrilled to share Gabi and Jack’s wedding with you today! Gabi holds a special place in my heart, she was a marketing intern for over a year at BravoBride and then our guest bride blogger. You can learn about her adventures in wedding planning here. Read about their beautiful day as told by Gabi and take a look at their amazing photos captured by Jessica Hannon Photography. Enjoy!

lace wedding dress
Jack and I were lucky to have clear skies and warm temperatures the day that we got married, and blessed to have loving family and friends celebrate with us as we started our lives together.

Our ceremony was held at my childhood church and our reception took place on my family’s property. I couldn’t have asked for a better location to start my life with the man that I love than the place where I grew up. We rented a big tent, hired a blue grass band and set out yard games for everyone to play. Jack and I wanted everyone to be comfortable and to have fun, and that is exactly what happened.

Earlier this year, I wrote an post about why we hired a wedding planner… and I am so happy we did! Our wedding planners worked closely with us to make sure everything looked the way we wanted it to look and to make sure we were stress free the day-of. On terms of how we wanted the reception to look, our planners blew us away! They achieved a rustic-chic atmosphere by incorporating old wheels, windows and doors from my family’s barn (as mentioned in my previous blog post) and mixing it with vintage items they brought on their own. I couldn’t have imagined anything better for our wedding.

They worked my dad and brothers to tie trees up against the big tent poles, created beautiful bouquets and boutonnières for our entire wedding party and managed the entire day so we didn’t have to worry about anything. The Bliss Life truly made our lives bliss for that entire day.

Overall, we just have so many people to thank for making our day amazing. Our photographers caught such precious moments and made us feel completely comfortable while they were shooting us, the bands that played (The East Hill Blue Grass Band and Jack’s brother’s band) were spectacular and the support that we got from our families… well, I am just speechless. I couldn’t be more proud and honored to have my family and to have joined Jack’s. I wish the amount of joy and love that I experienced on my wedding day to every bride-to-be out there.

Thank you Gabi and Jack for sharing your beautiful day with us!

7 Easy DIY Mason Jar Wedding Ideas

Posted in DIY Projects, Wedding Ideas, Wedding trends

I have to admit I am one of those people who bought a box of a dozen Mason jars and 10 are still in the box – those two were used the day I made a little too much homemade salsa. Now, rinsed out, they sit on my counter staring at me, begging to be brought to the party!

Hence began my search for the DIY wedding Mason jar project. I found plenty, but I also needed to find some that were within my limited DIY ability. Here are some of my favorites. Enjoy!
