Have your cake and eat it too
Monday, January 10th, 2011Have a bad wedding photo? It can be fixed.
Wednesday, November 10th, 2010
My Grandma had her wedding photo hanging in the living room and for as long as I could remember she always wished the whole family wasn’t in it. She just wanted her husband, parents and sister. I went to college for graphic design and learned quite a few Photoshop skills so when my Grandma turned 90 I scanned her image, took all the extra people out and gave it to her for her birthday. Sixty years later she finally got the wedding picture she always wanted.
Because of my own experience I was so excited to learn about a new company called FIXsuckyPIX. Brett from FIXsuckyPIX does exactly what I did to my Grandma’s photo (although probably a much better job) and more. Brett, who is a professional high-end fashion photo retoucher was inspired to start his business after his own breakup. In trying to make himself happy he realized he could make others happy too. Brett says, “The basic idea behind my business is…life can really suck sometimes but your photography doesn’t have to. A lot of times the most important days of our lives are surrounded by stress. What I want every bride out there to know is that, if they can’t afford an awesome photographer, and they have to use their brother to take pictures with his point and shoot, I will make those pictures awesome…plain and simple.”
And as they say, the proof is in the pudding. Check out his amazing before and after photos. Brett’s rates are also super affordable and he’s offering special pricing in November. A retouched wedding or family photo would make an excellent holiday gift! Click here for more details.

This went from a 'just alright' photo to one that you'd want to frame. Brett took the people out of the background, warmed up the colors and really improved the composition.

Brett combined the two images, took the kids out and adjusted the colors. Check out the groom's new outfit too.
Poor Randy

No matter how many times Randy (far left) prepared for this moment he still wasn’t the first one off the ledge… oh the frustration.

Wedding Spotlight
Monday, November 2nd, 2009I love wedding photos and could spend hours looking at images of brides and grooms that I never met. Which is why I am so excited to post our first wedding spotlight by Shannon Lee Images. Check out these gorgeous images of Annette & Carlos’s wedding on October 17, 2009 by Shannon Lee and Jason Redmond
Their rings on Annette’s bouquet.

Something borrowed… something new… something blue. Annette’s dress,
shoes and blue panties that say her new married name! Hot.

The first look. Annette and Carlos originally had told insisted against
seeing each other prior to their ceremony. As it got later and later in the
year and the sun was setting earlier and earlier, I told them that if they
wanted time for photos of the two of them that they should definitely see
each other before. After many emails back and forth, Annette reluctantly
agreed and then grew to love the idea. I just love moments like these
captured between a couple. It’s something you can never capture quite this
way at a ceremony. Think Annette is disappointed she saw him before? Not
after seeing this set of photos!

Annette & Carlos – all taken on the Diamond Bar Golf Course

The details of Annette & Carlos’s ceremony and reception. Their
beautiful fall, gazebo wedding, their stunning flowers, name placement
cards, and of course their reception hall.

Annette’s grandfather cried when he saw her all dressed like a princess.
He walked her all the way down the aisle with his cane in tow, determined to
get her to her husband to be. He cried giving her away but you can tell he
adores Carlos. Who wouldn’t with that sweet face and charm?

Not only were Annette and Carlos beginning their lives together, they had
another addition to their family, Carlos’s daughter! She is six and was
delighted to welcome Annette as her father’s wife. They poured different
colored sand into a bowl etched with their initials to symbolize their new
family.

First kiss!

Mmmm time for my favorite part, cake!! Carlos is a pretty laid back guy,
but when it came to the cake he insisted on this banana, chocolate dream of
a cake. It was by far one of the best I’ve had and it was wrapped up like a
present too!

First dance… they are so sweet together. May they live happily ever
after.
Wedding Savings Tip – Use an Outdoor Backdrop

If a fancy reception site isn’t in your budget, then just take advantage of an outdoor backdrop. A new trend in Providence, Rhode Island is to take advantage of The State House and its sweeping staircases and impressive rotunda to capture a formal wedding photo. Many couples are heading to the gorgeous location between the ceremony and reception to squeeze in some photos with an elegant backdrop.
Officially, the state doesn’t allow couples to marry or hold receptions at the capitol, but it has embraced the photo concept. The site has become such a desired locale that the state Facilities Department now books the space more than a year in advance, jamming in up to three couples a weekend in the peak wedding months of summer and fall.
So if you are wanting a memorable, beautiful backdrop for you wedding photos then research locations near your wedding and reception site and find what their policies are on using their location.
