Here are some quick thoughts on the groom’s wedding day accessories from the groom experts at The Man Registry.

Guys, if you’re wearing a tux on your wedding day, you’re going to need cufflinks. Tux shops usually provide a “Plain Jane” cufflink that goes with your attire. Trust me, you can do better. Most grooms will order personalized cufflinks for themselves (and oftentimes for their groomsmen as well). Some of our most popular options are the engraved two tone cufflinks and the Harrison Silver cufflinks.

Ascots are making a comeback in a big way. If you and your bride are fashion-oriented, this may be a route for you to consider instead of the standard necktie or bowtie. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the ascot, it’s a narrow silk band that goes around the neck. It features wide pointed wings and looks a little something like this. Keep in mind you’ll generally need a pin to hold the ascot in place.

Personalizing the boutonniere is quickly becoming a popular way for the groom to leave his mark on the wedding day attire. Whether it’s utilizing colors from a favorite sports team or incorporating a favorite hobby, there are plenty of ideas out there. Just remember to consult with the bride before pinning a flower in the shape of a deer head to your tux!
Finally, if you’re wearing a vest, consider adding a pocket watch with a chain. This may sound funny or straight out of a movie, but classy and elegant is in. Take a risk and go for it!
