He was not very active in the community and mostly kept to himself, making him appear frightening, specially to small kids.
In a shy way, Olivia explained her project to this man while he listened standing at the door. He thanked her for the invitation and said he would consider attending. She smiled and left, thanking him back.
To make the story short, Olivia and her group of friends collected $251,300 for the orphanage! It turns out this man had a daughter who had died many years ago, when she was Olivia's age. As many fathers do, since his daughter was born, he had opened a bank account on her name and, every month, he would put some money in it, expecting it to be useful for her studies later on. When she died, he forgot about the account for a while, but, when he was able to function again, he decided to keep it and continue to put money in there, hoping to find a good way to use it in the name of his daughter, Laura. When Olivia visited him, he saw her daughter's angel instead and decided to give her the money, $250,000.
Since then, Olivia understood the importance a single person's actions can have in the reality of thousands and, throughout her life, she has devoted herself to many worthy causes. She has always kept an active part in every fight she undertakes.
A few years ago, her interest was drawn towards the environment, ecology, and nature wellness. She recognized the need to become conscious and appreciative about nature and what it gives us; and she understood the need to give back. Olivia has become an avid recycling person, learning the best ways to get the most out of everything she uses and needs.
She has become the neighborhood recycling organizer, suggesting interesting ways and teaching kids and adults about ideas to save and help the environment. She even has a group devoted to performing “green” work on the weekends, wherever it is needed.
The best thing about Olivia is that her whole Self communicates her devotion towards others, be it people or nature, and her life is the best example of what she teaches. Two years ago, Olivia married the love of her life, Daniel.
She was very clear about her wishes and also, it was somewhat obvious. Her wedding would be simple and environmentally friendly. It was held and celebrated in a beautiful garden and in a picnic style, no tables or chairs.
