Featured Bride – Venessa Armentrout Jones

What could be better than a day at the beach? Well, how about a wedding on the beach! I am so excited to share our featured bride, Venessa’s, Caribbean wedding with you! Learn about how her and husband met and take a look at their warm, sunny tropical pictures. It’s a great and beautiful escape from winter!

How did you and your husband meet and when did you know he was the one?

My husband and I met through mutual friends (thank you Chuck D. – I’m forever grateful) – while attending college at The Ohio State University.  We were friends for four years before we started dating.  I knew my husband was “the one” because I truly felt comfortable around him at all times.  I found comfort in his presence, not his absence.  He encouraged me to reach for my goals, fostered a sense of self worth and treated me with the respect that each one of us rightly deserves.  I always feel confident, comfortable, loved, special and desired when I am with my husband.  After almost 10 years, I still feel the same thrill when I see him.

Where and when did you get married?

We were married on August 13, 2011 at Sea Wind Resort in Negril, Jamaica.  My husband and I LOVE the Caribbean so a beach wedding on the island of Jamaica was perfect!

What was your favorite memory of the day?

My favorite memory of the day is a tie between walking down the aisle at our ceremony and dancing at our reception.  Two totally different feelings but both equally amazing.  I wish I could redo our wedding day all over again. I had so much fun!

If you could anything differently, what would it be?

Overall, everything went as planned.  I’m not sure that I would do anything differently. But, if I could do it all over again, I would ask our DJ to play longer. I had so much fun at our reception. Our DJ kept the party going. I definitely didn’t want it to end.

Do you have any advice for other brides?

Start planning as early as possible. It gives you time to look for deals on craigslist, ebay, BravoBride or other discount websites. Don’t make a huge DIY list. Time flies by. If you are planning a destination wedding, hire a wedding coordinator.  I worked exclusively with our wedding coordinator and everything turned out fabulous.

Thank you Venessa for sharing your beautiful wedding with us!
