Wedding at a Castle

We are thrilled to bring you this week’s featured wedding, it looks like it’s straight from a fairy tale book! Carla and Mike were married on February 12th, 2012 and their reception was held at a gorgeous castle in New York. Bryan, from Bryan Avigne Photography photographed the event and tells us more about their big day below. Get ready to get swept away!

From Bryan: “I hadn’t met Carla and Mike until the day of the wedding as they are both very busy professionals from NYC. This was a 6-hour wedding that I thought would be pretty much straight forward. It was atypical in several ways. The first was that the church was very strict on photography rules and as a result, there were very few photos from the ceremony itself. However, when we returned to the Castle for formals, we took advantage of the outdoor grounds. That is until it started to rain! Family portraits were forced inside, but later in the night I was able to pull the couple outside for one shot in front of the castle. The wet driveway added to the beauty of the photo.”

“The other unique part of this wedding is that part of the groom’s family is from Sweden. It is tradition at Swedish weddings to have a microphone open throughout the entire dinner portion of the ceremony. Family members and friends are encouraged to go up at their convenience and tell stories or anecdotes of the couple. Dinner was followed by a slideshow of the couple, a speech or two more and then dancing.”
